Body Systems

The human body is composed of body systems that when functioning optimally promote health and wellness in the individual.

As mentioned in my Alignment Blog, posted January 30th 2012, it is said that the mind controls the body until the body gets sick, then the body controls the mind.   To heal the body as a whole we must understand the functions of the separate body systems, as well as the corresponding mental/emotional processes.  This will be discussed in more detail in future blogs.  Let us begin today with familiarizing ourselves with some of our body systems.

Our body systems include:
1. Immune  - Defense
2. Lymphatic - Healing
3. Respiratory - Breath of Life
4. Cardiovascular - Circulation
5. Digestive - Processing and Assimilation
6. Reproductive - Creation
7. Endocrine - Hormones/ Emotions/ Growth and Development
8. Nervous - Messengers
9. Urinary - Cleansing
10. Muscular - Movement
11. Skeletal - Structure/ Form
12. Integumentary  - Protection

Our body systems perform multiple functions to assist and support human life.  Our organs are integral parts of multiple body systems.  Our organs, bones, ligaments, connective tissue, glands, soft tissue and more unite to create the human body and are formed through the union of over 100 trillion individual cells.  It is through communication with  these existing cells and gentle guidance as new cells grow and develop that we can restore the body to a state of health and well-being.

"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of dis-ease".   Thomas Edison.
