A Metaphysical Approach to Healing the body.

As stated in previous blogs, it is believed by some, myself included, that the mind controls the body until the body gets sick, then the body controls the mind.

In line with this thinking, it is necessary to understand the optimal function/purpose of the body, it's organs and body systems as well as the mental thought processes that promote or impede optimal performance and function.

Each of our over 100 trillion cells holds a unique vibrational frequency representative of the experiences and emotional perceptions present at the time of its creation.  As we move through life our cellular body is continually regenerating itself in an effort to create a vessel for optimal performance and experience based on the communication between our mind and our spirit.   When our thoughts conflict with one another the body creates cells that are also in conflict, supporting too opposing sides on the same issue.

So what then is the answer?     My best guess:

Be aware.
Be aware of your internal dialogue.  If your dialogue does not support itself and what you ultimately want, begin reframing if you can, if it is difficult to reframe look to others who have gathered the information you need and be willing to learn.

As stated in  Why Bodywork? February 6,   working with an experienced bodyworker could be the link between your mind and body.  An exceptional bodyworker will listening to what you want while holding space within your body to create the cells necessary to support your dreams.

Next week:  A metaphysical study of the digestive system.

With God all things are made possible.

Every Impossible thought contains an ounce of doubt.
An ounce of doubt nullifies all Faith.
Be equally Mindful of your thoughts for and of yourself and others.
As in mind in body.

Peace.  Hope.  Love.

Body Systems

The human body is composed of body systems that when functioning optimally promote health and wellness in the individual.

As mentioned in my Alignment Blog, posted January 30th 2012, it is said that the mind controls the body until the body gets sick, then the body controls the mind.   To heal the body as a whole we must understand the functions of the separate body systems, as well as the corresponding mental/emotional processes.  This will be discussed in more detail in future blogs.  Let us begin today with familiarizing ourselves with some of our body systems.

Our body systems include:
1. Immune  - Defense
2. Lymphatic - Healing
3. Respiratory - Breath of Life
4. Cardiovascular - Circulation
5. Digestive - Processing and Assimilation
6. Reproductive - Creation
7. Endocrine - Hormones/ Emotions/ Growth and Development
8. Nervous - Messengers
9. Urinary - Cleansing
10. Muscular - Movement
11. Skeletal - Structure/ Form
12. Integumentary  - Protection

Our body systems perform multiple functions to assist and support human life.  Our organs are integral parts of multiple body systems.  Our organs, bones, ligaments, connective tissue, glands, soft tissue and more unite to create the human body and are formed through the union of over 100 trillion individual cells.  It is through communication with  these existing cells and gentle guidance as new cells grow and develop that we can restore the body to a state of health and well-being.

"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of dis-ease".   Thomas Edison.

Why Bodywork?

As we move through life as energetic beings our entire makeup is constantly changing, both internally and externally.
Every moment of our experience influences our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual perspectives.

Integrating mind and body is a necessity to move through life with ease.

Traditional bodywork practices and techniques can be useful to promote health and well-being, and are most effective when the receiver is in a relaxed state of mind, present in treatment and prepared to follow the general health directive of the attending therapist, be it through diet (consumption), exercise (movements) or rest (recovery).

Massage Therapy helps restore muscle function, promoting fluid movement in both voluntary and
    involuntary (our organs) muscles.
Cranial Sacral Therapy helps enhance cerebral fluid production and flow, resetting the innate
    rhythm of the body.
Manual Therapy exercises the joints, improving ligament function and structural stability.
Reiki or Energy Medicine clears, relaxes and restores Chakra (Energy Center) function,
clearing the physical, mental and emotional bodies thereby enhancing spiritual connection.
Acupuncture or pressure stimulates meridian points promoting communication and flow between
   varying areas within the body.

Here are a few tips to help you get the most from your next bodywork session.

  • Be aware of your current physical, mental and emotional state, share with the therapist as much general information as comfortable,  this will help direct their focus for the treatment.
  • Drink a cup of calming tea, Chamomile works well, before and/or after treatment to promote relaxation.   The longer the body is in a relaxed state the more familiar that state will become.
  • Be sure you are well hydrated,  bodywork can be considered a passive form of exercise creating toxic by product that needs to be flushed from the system to decrease muscle soreness.
  • Notice both immediate and gradual changes post treatment and communicate them to the therapist prior to the next session, this will indicate responsiveness to treatment.
And of course Enjoy!!!

Please remember bodywork, as with any form of personal care, should both enhance function and life vitality.  It should leave you feeling better than before you sought care.
